We're Getting Back Together

We're getting back together
but will it work, I can't foresee
Have you worked on YOU?
And have I worked on ME?

Have we taken the time
To acknowledge our own faults
or are we just here
waiting for the imminent fall?

Did we talk it out
or just kiss and make up?
Do you still hold a grudge
and do I still fear your snub?

Have we addressed our pride
and gave up the war?
Can we really be humble?
Can we really be small?

We're getting back together...
but what if we fail?
Is it better to part friends now
than enemies down the trail?

Is our acceptance and friendship
better than a bitter love?
Should I just say 'see ya later'
and get on with my new life?

We're getting back together
To this I do know
But I think in the long run
It will have been better to go
